Plagiarism Policy

Plagiarism Policy

Global Review of Tourism and Social Sciences (GRTSS) applies a Zero Tolerance Policy towards plagiarism and has outlined specific measures for handling suspected cases.

Definition

Plagiarism refers to the use or close imitation of the language and thoughts of another author and presenting them as one’s own original work.

Policy Guidelines

All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere. Any reused content must be properly formatted by:

  • Indentation
  • Use of quotation marks
  • Proper citation of the source

Quotations exceeding fair use (more than two or three sentences) or reused visual material require written permission from the copyright holder and must include full source details.

Submission Requirement

Authors must submit a Turnitin similarity report with their manuscript. All submissions will undergo an additional similarity check by the editorial team.

Actions Based on Similarity Index

Similarity above 40%: Immediate Rejection and Manuscript is rejected due to excessive plagiarism. No resubmission is allowed.

Similarity between 20% and 40%: Major Revision Required. Authors must improve citations, paraphrasing, and resubmit with a new Turnitin report showing <20% similarity.

Similarity ≤ 20%: Accepted with Minor Revisions (if any). Minor citation adjustments may be requested before final acceptance.

Revision Process

For cases 2 and 3, authors must carefully revise the manuscript, improve paraphrasing, add citations, and submit a new Turnitin report showing a similarity index below 20%.

Similarity Check Process

All manuscripts submitted to GRTSS undergo plagiarism screening using Turnitin. The editorial team reviews the report and communicates outcomes to authors. Non-compliance leads to rejection.
