Publication Ethics & Responsibilities

Global Review of Tourism and Social Science (GRTSS)
(Adapted from COPE and Elsevier Guidelines)

GRTSS is a peer-reviewed, open-access journal that publishes original research in tourism and hospitality, business and management, economics, finance, business economics, and cultural studies. We uphold the highest ethical standards and promote credible scholarly communication.

This ethics statement applies to all participants in the publication process: authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher.


Duties of Authors

  • Reporting Standards: Present accurate, honest, and original research. Misrepresentation is unethical.
  • Data Access and Retention: Raw data may be requested. Authors should retain data for a reasonable time.
  • Originality and Plagiarism: Work must be original. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable and checked via Turnitin.
  • Multiple or Concurrent Submissions: Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals is unethical.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper credit must be given to all contributors and funding sources.
  • Authorship: Limited to those with substantial contributions. All co-authors must approve the submission.
  • Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI cannot be listed as an author. Usage must be disclosed if relevant.
  • Ethical Approval: Necessary for research involving humans or animals, along with documentation.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Disclose any potential conflicts affecting research or interpretation.
  • Corrections and Retractions: Notify editors of errors post-publication and cooperate in rectifying them.

Duties of Reviewers

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Provide constructive feedback to support editorial judgment.
  • Confidentiality: Treat all submissions as confidential documents.
  • Objectivity: Reviews must be fair, objective, and respectful.
  • Acknowledgment of Sources: Point out uncited relevant work or overlaps.
  • Conflicts of Interest: Decline to review if personal or financial conflicts exist.

Duties of Editors

  • Publication Decisions: Decisions are based on scholarly merit and ethical standards.
  • Fair Play: Manuscripts are judged without discrimination.
  • Confidentiality: Editorial information is kept strictly confidential.
  • Handling Misconduct: Editors act upon ethical violations including issuing retractions.
  • Corrections (Erratum & Corrigendum):
    • Erratum: Issued for minor corrections pre-publication.
    • Corrigendum: Published for post-publication corrections.

Publisher’s Responsibilities

The Global Review of Tourism and Social Science editorial office, on behalf of its publisher, upholds integrity in the publishing process and cooperates fully in resolving misconduct.
