Review of Equity, Inclusion and Society (REIS)
1. Policy Statement
Review of Equity, Inclusion and Society (REIS) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and ethical publishing. Plagiarism in any form is considered unethical and unacceptable.
All submitted manuscripts must be original, properly cited, and free from any form of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism and redundant publication.
2. Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, ideas, data, or images without proper citation
- Presenting another author’s work as one’s own
- Reusing significant portions of one’s own previously published work without acknowledgment (self-plagiarism)
- Improper paraphrasing or close imitation of existing work
- Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals simultaneously
3. Plagiarism Screening
All manuscripts submitted to REIS will undergo plagiarism detection using reliable software (e.g., Turnitin or similar tools).
Acceptable Similarity Threshold
- Similarity Index: ≤ 15% (excluding references and properly cited quotations)
- No single source should exceed 5% similarity
Manuscripts exceeding these thresholds may be returned to authors for revision or rejected.
4. Types of Plagiarism and Actions
Minor Overlap (e.g., improper citation)
- Authors will be asked to revise and correct the manuscript
Moderate Plagiarism
- Manuscript may be rejected
- Authors required to resubmit after significant revision
Severe Plagiarism (e.g., copied content, data fabrication)
- Immediate rejection
- Authors may be banned from submission for a specified period
- Notification may be sent to affiliated institutions (if necessary)
5. Responsibilities of Authors
Authors are responsible for:
- Ensuring originality of their work
- Properly citing all sources
- Avoiding duplicate or redundant publication
- Providing accurate references
6. Responsibilities of Editors and Reviewers
Editors and reviewers are responsible for:
- Identifying potential plagiarism during review
- Reporting any ethical concerns
- Ensuring fair and unbiased evaluation
7. Post-Publication Issues
If plagiarism is discovered after publication:
- The article may be retracted
- A formal retraction notice will be issued
- The article will be marked accordingly in the journal archive
8. Ethical Compliance
REIS follows international standards of publication ethics and adheres to best practices in scholarly publishing to ensure the integrity and credibility of all published research.
9. Policy Updates
REIS reserves the right to update this plagiarism policy to reflect evolving standards in academic publishing and ethical guidelines.
