Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Review of Equity, Inclusion and Society (REIS)

1. Overview

Review of Equity, Inclusion and Society (REIS) applies a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, integrity, and academic rigor of all published manuscripts. Both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the review process.

The journal is committed to fair, objective, and timely evaluation of all submissions.

2. Initial Editorial Screening

Upon submission, manuscripts are first evaluated by the Editorial Team to ensure:

  • Relevance to the journal’s aims and scope
  • Compliance with submission guidelines
  • Originality and plagiarism check
  • Basic academic quality

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected without external review.

3. Assignment to Associate Editor

Qualified manuscripts are assigned to an Associate Editor or Section Editor with expertise in the relevant field, who oversees the peer review process.

4. Reviewer Selection

Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the subject area.

Reviewers are selected based on:

  • Academic qualifications and expertise
  • Publication record
  • Absence of conflicts of interest

5. Double-Blind Review

REIS follows a double-blind review system, where:

  • Authors do not know the identity of reviewers
  • Reviewers do not know the identity of authors

This ensures an unbiased and objective evaluation process.

6. Review Criteria

Reviewers evaluate manuscripts based on:

  • Originality and contribution to the field
  • Relevance to the journal scope
  • Theoretical and methodological rigor
  • Clarity and organization
  • Quality of analysis and discussion
  • Adequacy of references

7. Review Outcomes

Based on reviewers’ reports, the Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

Authors will receive detailed feedback to support revisions where applicable.

8. Revision Process

Authors are required to revise their manuscripts according to reviewer comments and submit a revised version along with a response to reviewers.

Revised manuscripts may be sent for further review if necessary.

9. Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief or assigned Editor makes the final decision on manuscript acceptance based on reviewer recommendations and the quality of revisions.

10. Review Timeline

REIS aims to maintain an efficient review process:

  • Initial screening: 3–7 days
  • Peer review: 2–4 weeks
  • Revision period: 1–3 weeks
  • Final decision: 1 week

11. Ethical Standards

All reviewers and editors are expected to adhere to ethical standards, including:

  • Confidentiality of submitted manuscripts
  • Objectivity and fairness
  • Disclosure of conflicts of interest

12. Confidentiality

All submitted manuscripts are treated as confidential documents. Reviewers must not share or use any information from the manuscript without permission.

13. Acknowledgment of Reviewers

REIS recognizes the valuable contribution of reviewers and may acknowledge their service periodically (without compromising anonymity).

14. Continuous Improvement

The journal continuously evaluates and improves its peer review process to ensure alignment with international publishing standards.
