Review of Equity, Inclusion and Society (REIS)

1. Overview

The Review of Equity, Inclusion and Society (REIS) follows a structured and transparent workflow to ensure the quality, integrity, and timely publication of all submitted manuscripts. The process is designed to maintain rigorous academic standards through systematic editorial and peer review procedures.

2. Submission Stage

Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal’s online submission system (OJS).

At this stage, authors are required to:

  • Upload the manuscript and supplementary files
  • Provide complete metadata (title, abstract, keywords, author details)
  • Confirm compliance with journal policies

3. Initial Editorial Screening

The Editorial Team conducts a preliminary evaluation to assess:

  • Alignment with the journal’s aims and scope
  • Compliance with formatting and submission guidelines
  • Originality (plagiarism screening)
  • Basic academic quality

Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.

4. Assignment to Editor

Qualified manuscripts are assigned to an Associate Editor or Section Editor based on subject expertise. The assigned editor manages the review process.

5. Peer Review Process

The manuscript undergoes a double-blind peer review:

  • Sent to at least two independent reviewers
  • Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on academic quality, originality, and relevance
  • Feedback and recommendations are provided

6. Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer reports, the Editor will make one of the following decisions:

  • Accept without revision
  • Minor revision
  • Major revision
  • Reject

Authors receive detailed comments to guide revisions where applicable.

7. Revision Stage

Authors revise their manuscript according to reviewer feedback and submit:

  • Revised manuscript
  • Response to reviewers

The revised manuscript may be re-evaluated by reviewers if necessary.

8. Final Decision

The Editor-in-Chief or assigned Editor makes the final decision on acceptance based on:

  • Reviewer recommendations
  • Quality of revisions
  • Overall contribution of the manuscript

9. Copyediting and Proofreading

Accepted manuscripts undergo:

  • Language editing
  • Formatting and layout adjustments
  • Author proof review for final corrections

10. Publication

After final approval:

  • Article is assigned a DOI (Digital Object Identifier)
  • Published online in the current issue
  • Indexed and archived in relevant databases

11. Timeline (Estimated)

  • Submission to initial decision: 3–7 days
  • Peer review: 2–4 weeks
  • Revision: 1–3 weeks
  • Final decision: 1 week
  • Publication: 1–2 weeks after acceptance

12. Ethical and Quality Assurance

REIS ensures:

  • Double-blind peer review
  • Plagiarism screening
  • Ethical compliance (COPE standards)
  • Transparency in editorial decisions

13. Continuous Improvement

The journal continuously evaluates its workflow to enhance efficiency, transparency, and quality in line with international publishing standards.
